A small kitchen mishap that turned into a full refresh

I never thought I would need kitchen installers so suddenly, but a small accident left my cabinets damaged and pushed me to finally fix things properly.

It happened just after a long day near Livingston Designer Outlet, when I noticed the cabinet edge had chipped badly. At first I tried to ignore it, but over the next few days it became annoyingly visible, especially in the evening glare.

I started searching online during a late night scroll, reading through reviews and comparing a few options. I came across kitchen fitters JRW Kitchens and liked how the service seemed clear. I sent over a few photos and got a quick reply with a rough idea of the work. Booking was simple, and we arranged a suitable slot that worked around my schedule.

On the day, the technician arrived right on time and began with a quick assessment of the damaged area. He explained each step in a clear way, which I appreciated. First came the cleaning to remove any dust, followed by sanding to smooth out the rough edges. Since the chip was slightly deep, a filler was applied and shaped neatly. After that, the colour matching process was surprisingly precise, blending tones so they would match the existing finish. Watching the blending stage was interesting as it slowly started to look like the original surface again. Finally, everything was polished to give it that soft shine. The whole process felt very carefully done, and nothing seemed rushed.

By the time it was done, I genuinely had to look closely to spot where the damage had been. The area looked neatly restored, and it made the whole kitchen feel more put together again. What stood out most was the convenience of having everything handled at home without needing to replace entire units. It was also fairly quick, which suited my schedule. That said, I can see this type of service being best for minor damage rather than full structural changes. Still, for what I needed, it solved the problem in a way that felt practical and stress free, and it gave me a bit more appreciation for how much detail goes into even small kitchen fixes.
